Project Manager

THE ROLE

As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of Black Sky projects while remaining aligned with the strategy, commitments and goals of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working in partnership with Program Director or delegate to ensure project development and delivery meet or exceed project and stakeholder objectives

  • Plan and implement projects

  • Help define project scope, goals and deliverables

  • Define tasks and required resources

  • Collect and manage project teams

  • Allocate project resources

  • Create a project schedule and timeline

  • Support and direct team

  • Lead quality assurance

  • Report on the project status

  • Present to stakeholders reports on progress as well as problems and solutions

  • Implement and manage changes when necessary to meet project deliverables

  • Evaluate and assess the result of the project

Accountable Areas

  • Oversee all phases of project lifecycle, from initiation of projects to closure, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and quality standards. Support the engineering team in preparation for and conduct of key reviews and test activities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customer groups across defence, government agencies, suppliers, and the internal teams, to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout program execution. Provide accurate and timely project data, information and knowledge to support decision making by the Black Sky executive and the Board

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance or establish business processes, tools, and methodologies, driving a culture of innovation, speed and excellence.

  •  Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and contractual requirements, maintaining high levels of governance and integrity in all program activities.

  • Maintain and improve the quality system.

Criteria - Required

  • Qualification/s in Project Management, or equivalent experience.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Problem-solving and leadership skills

  • Project planning, risk management, time management and other project management skills

  • Experience in strategic planning, risk management and/or change management

  • Proficiency in project management software and tools

  • Conflict resolution experience

  • Australian Citizenship and be able to qualify for Australian security clearances

Criteria – Desired

  • Experience in a hardware-focused organization.

  • Experience in an Agile Project Environment

  • Contract negotiation

  • Experience working in an AS9100D quality management system.

  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace, defence or similarly regulated industries

  • Project management qualification (PMP), Certified associate in project management (CAPM), or equivalent experience as a project manager

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment.

  • NV1 Security Clearance eligible (preferred).
